The partnership between Newcrest Mining and The University of Queensland to provide a Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) Laboratory, is delivering improved educational opportunities to UQ engineering students and supplies the resources sector with an increased pool of highly qualified engineering graduates. These graduates will underpin the resources sector into the future, benefiting industry and
society.

The Newcrest Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning (HVAC) Laboratory provides: 

• undergraduate students with an environment to conduct their practical work and to understand important concepts and applications of thermodynamics and heat transfer in the field of heating, cooling, ventilation, air conditioning, and gas analysis
• postgraduate students with additional facilities to enhance their research activities
• infrastructure for experiments in the very rapidly developing coal-seam methane and geothermal energy areas.
